The Enhanced Rider Scheme is designed by The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and lets motorcyclists have their riding skills checked by a DVSA approved trainer to help them become safer riders and get more from their motorcycling. To take the course, you will need to have an advanced motorcycle qualification (IAM, RoSPA or DIAmond) and you will need to take an advanced theory test. The ERS Motorcycle Instructor course takes 5 days to complete and covers the full ERS syllabus. This course is approved by the DVSA and will enable you to join the RPMT (Register of Post Test Motorcycle Trainers).
There are 7 core modules to the ERS course and throughout we focus on your ability for training students in a structured planned approach to riding, understand defensive riding and hazard awareness, progress and use of speed, overtaking and filtering, bends and corners, slow control, developing the correct rider attitude.
