Based at the National Sports Centre Stadium, Phoenix Motorcycle Training Crystal Palace offers lessons for all levels of motorcyclists. From beginner CBT courses to advanced rider certifications, we have your motorcycle training needs covered! We are an MCIAC Gold Standard training school, awarded for our high-quality customer service, instruction, equipment, value for money and training facilities. The Crystal Palace Motorcycle Training Centre is easily accessible from the London boroughs of Bromley, Croydon, Southwark, Lambeth and Lewisham. Just a five-minute walk from Crystal Palace Parade and railway stations. Many different buses also pass by the school and ample parking is available on-site.
We offer Compulsory Basic Training (CBT), Full Licence Training (DAS), Enhanced Rider, and Advanced Rider training courses. We also offer Try-Ride sessions for those who aren’t sure that motorcycling is for them!
Our Crystal Palace centre has excellent facilities. The training site includes a classroom, toilets, free tea and coffee and a large, safe DVSA-approved training area. We are capable of training candidates for both CBT and Module 1 practical testing.
All full licence lessons and CBT courses are on offer 7 days a week. We take lessons on a variety of new machines. 50cc and 125cc manual scooters and a brand-new fleet of 600cc Honda motorbikes are used for students training at all levels. We tailore all of our courses to meet individual’s needs and timescales. Full safety equipment is provided with all training courses. We book DVSA test slots up to 10 weeks in advance to ensure you are able to take your test at the earliest and most convenient time for you.

Chris White
Chris White became a part time instructor in 1997 and a full time DAS instructor in 2003. Chris has run his own motorcycle training school for nine years and worked for Phoenix for over two years. Chris has passed the Advanced bike test, attained a ROSPA gold pass three times and achieved an IAM test pass. He’s also completed four bike safe courses, one at The Warren, two in Maidstone and one from The Ace Cafe.

I’ve been riding for 22 years and have been instructing for 8 years for Phoenix. Working as an instructor gives me great job satisfaction, taking people from their CBT to their full bike license is rewarding. As a biker I also love to do track days and off road riding when I can on my Suzuki GSXR 1000. I have a DIAmond advanced qualification and also MRTI qualified through the MCIA.

Pete has been riding motorcycles for more than 40 years. In that time he’s owned a number of different bikes from old British 2 strokes to more modern bikes. He first became an instructor in the late seventies after training with the RAC and ACU. He then committed to becoming a full time instructor in 2006 gaining his CBT and DAS qualifications. Peter joined Phoenix in 2016 and has since gained further qualifications including the Enhanced Rider Scheme ( ERS ) and MRTI instructor qualification. In Pete’s spare time he enjoys working on his current collection of motorcycles including a Yamaha LC350 YPVS and a Kawasaki ZZR600.

Steve has been an instructor at Phoenix for over 6 years now and still thoroughly enjoys all aspects of training. He especially likes helping students to believe in themselves and proving to them they can do it. During his time with Phoenix Steve has worked in various specialist areas including gaining qualifications in, not only CBT and DAS, but also the Fleet Operators recognition scheme (FORS), Enhanced Rider Scheme and he’s also an MRTI qualified instructor in line with the MCIA gold accreditation. Within the business, Steve has also worked alongside and assisted multiple manufacturers including Honda, Triumph and Harley Davidson. Steve has a real passion for motorcycle racing especially MotoGP and in his spare time, he enjoys playing golf and tinkering with his beloved Aprilia RS250.

Ken Bell has been riding since 2005 and spent a decade commuting into central London and visiting all four corners of the UK before discovering the joys of group riding in 2017. He is now a ride leader and event organiser for the London Motorcycle Riders Club (LMRC, a social riders club), riding most weekends. He has also enjoyed European and North American trips on his bike. Once a week, Ken performs a night shift for SERV SSL (an NABB charity), delivering blood and blood products. He now works as a CBT instructor for Phoenix’s South and South-West London schools.

Wynne Pritchard has been riding since last century! I have been lucky enough to be with Phoenix since the beginning of 2010. I hold both Institute of Advanced Motorcycling green badge and MCIA qualifications and am proud to work with Phoenix and see it grow to a national company with the customer placed as number one. My passion will be your passion of obtaining your full bike licence. Each day with Phoenix is different ranging from a beginner on a CBT course, to Full Licence Training (DAS) and Back to Biking courses.

Nick Brown
Nick has been an instructor with Phoenix for more than 3 years. He’s been involved with motorcycle training for the last 25 years, covering all aspects from CBT and DAS to advanced post test training. Before joining Phoenix, Nick served as a police officer for 30 years. Motorcycling was a major part of his role as a lead member in the Special Escort Group, ensuring the safety of senior royals, government ministers and visiting heads of state. He was also a key influence in the creation of BikeSafe London which is now a nationwide recognised scheme. Part of Nick’s role within Phoenix is also being a key member of our in-house instructor training and development program. Nick ensures each instructor, new and old, are at the highest level. Nick currently rides a Suzuki V-Strom for training and enjoys European tours on his Harley Davidson.

Sam Roodenburg, known as Li’l Sam, has a passion for riding bikes and increasing the number and safety of motorcyclists on the roads. He enjoys passing on his experience and passion for riding to others and welcoming them into the biking family. Sam has been riding on the road since 2009 and has owned many makes and types of motorcycles. He’s got a soft spot for Triumphs, since buying his first Speed Triple R in 2014 and has owned nearly all of their models to date. Sam has been instructing since late 2015 and worked his way to becoming DVSA, DAS, and MCIAC approved instructor.

Steve Bradbury has ridden motorcycles since he was fourteen and was a police motorcyclist for twelve years. Steve rides most days and goes on several motorcycling tours each year. His experience has shown him poor riding is, more often than is believed, the cause of motorcycling accidents. Because of this, Steve believes there is no substitute for high quality training.

Claire is an instructor and ride leader for the women’s motorcycle collective VC London and is passionate about getting more Women into motorcycle riding.

Steve has been riding push bikes and motorbikes all his life, he’s raced motorcycles and bicycles and he’s also spent a number of seasons with a motorcycle display team.
Steve used to work in IT but decided to change careers in 2021 and retrained as a motorcycle instructor. Steve has worked for Phoenix since August 2022.
